Bangkok — 2 April 2026 SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited (SCGC), in collaboration with Thairath Group through the Thairath Foundation, the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), and network partners including the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) and SCG Foundation, announced the launch of the “Thairath Wittaya Active Learning Project” with 10 pilot schools from four regions across Thailand under the Thairath Wittaya school network. The project aims to support a learning system that transforms students from passive recipients into active creators of knowledge through questioning, real-world problem-solving, and hands-on practice.
SCGC plays a key role in elevating waste management practices in schools by promoting practical knowledge that enables students to properly separate waste at the source in line with the Circular Economy concept. This initiative is designed to create long-term behavioral change among youth, who will grow into key drivers of a sustainable future for the country. SCGC also supports the “Waste Wittaya Kids Box”, a learning toolkit for teaching everyday waste management.
Dr. Suracha Udomsak, Chief Operations and Innovation Officer, SCGC, together with Ms. Jitsupa Vacharaphol, Co-CEO of Thairath TV and Thairath Online and a board member of the Thairath Foundation, and Mr. Manit Sooksomjit, a board member of the Thairath Foundation, presided over the project launch at The Palazzo Hotel. The 10 pilot schools from four regions are grouped into agriculture and environment, community-based learning, and media and technology. SCGC has supported the agriculture and environment group (5 schools), including Thairath Wittaya 10 (Narathiwat) with its young farmer project, Thairath Wittaya 51 (Bueng Kan) with its sufficiency vegetable garden, and Thairath Wittaya 91 (Amnat Charoen) with its organic sugarcane initiative, Thairath Wittaya 73 School (Nakhon Nayok) with its sustainable kitchen project and Thairath Wittaya 54 (Phang Nga) with its bamboo garden project. The project includes close monitoring mechanisms such as assignments, on-site school visits, and lesson-learned sessions to continuously improve implementation.
This project will run throughout the 2026 academic year and marks an important starting point for promoting integrated learning on the Circular Economy among youth, with the goal of scaling up as a national model in the future.
