Bangkok - 12 February 2026 Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), through the Department of Environment, together with the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (DEPA), the Embassy of Denmark in Thailand, the Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), and SCGC as a network partner on circular economy and recycling solutions, launched the Pilot Project for Household Waste Sorting in Bangkok Condominiums. The initiative aims to establish an effective waste management model for condominiums in Bangkok in alignment with the city’s “No Mixed Waste” policy and the newly implemented waste management fee regulation, paving the way for scalable and sustainable waste solutions.

The project focuses on developing a practical waste‑sorting system tailored to the unique context of high‑rise buildings. Ten condominiums in Khlong Toei and Watthana districts, selected for their diverse characteristics, will serve as pilot sites to gather insights and co-create adaptable waste management models. The outcomes will be used to further refine, expand, and implement the system across all 50 districts of Bangkok and eventually to other areas.

In addition to designing effective and context-appropriate waste management systems for each condominium, the project emphasizes the importance of encouraging waste sorting at the source, increasing the volume of recyclable materials returned to the recycling stream, reducing the amount of waste destined for disposal, and promoting a more sustainable urban environment based on the principles of the Circular Economy.
