As the global packaging industry moves progressively toward sustainability, mono-material packaging has gained significant attention from brand owners and manufacturers alike. This approach improves recyclability, simplifies material structures, and embodies the principles of a circular economy in a practical way. However, transitioning to a mono-material structure in flexible packaging—especially in the printing layer—still poses challenges related to production efficiency, heat resistance, and print quality.

Broader Sealing Window for Better, Greener Packaging

Switching from conventional hard-to-recycle film structures such as BOPET (Bi-Oriented Polyester) or BOPA (Bi-Oriented Polyamide) to recyclable polyolefin-based mono-material films often narrows the “Sealing Window,” increasing the risk of wrinkled or weak seals and leakage. The high heat-resistant plastic resin from SCGC is designed to expand the sealing window, ensuring smooth seals, strong seals and reducing production waste. It also maintains beautiful shape and appealing of pouches, supporting high-speed printing without registration issues—even in complex graphic design packaging. This allows it to effectively replace traditional printing film materials, offering an ideal eco-friendly alternative for flexible packaging.

SCGC Mono-material PE Solutions

SCGC has developed a wide range of mono-material PE resin grades tailored to different packaging applications:

    • SCGC™ HDPE H619F Designed for producing films with high stiffness, excellent clarity, and gloss. Suitable for both blown film and MDOPE (Machine Direction Oriented PE Film). For blown films, this grade is ideal for medium to large packaging, providing outstanding print quality. It has been commercially proven to be converted, printed, laminated with LLDPE films, and formed into various commercial packaging by Thailand leading packaging manufacturers such as Thai Nam Poly Pack Co., Ltd. and NGM Industrial Co., Ltd. For MDOPE films, it is suitable for small-sized packaging with sharp print quality and appealing packaging form. In collaboration with Unique Plastic Industrial Co., Ltd. and Prepack Thailand Co., Ltd., SCGC™ HDPE H619F has proven to match the performance of conventional packaging and is already in commercial use—for instance, in frozen food pouches from brands like Cargill and PFP.
    • SCGC™ HDPE S197F Designed for bi-oriented HDPE (BOPE-HD) films with superior tensile strength and exceptional clarity—SCGC is the first in Asia to develop this special-grade HDPE resin. Suitable for all packaging sizes, this grade delivers excellent print quality and attractive bag appearance. Tested at the Brückner Technology Center in Germany, the resin demonstrated outstanding performance in two-directional film stretching, validating its suitability for commercial-scale production.

Mono-material PP Solutions for High-Performance Applications

Beyond PE structures, SCGC also offers mono-material PP resin solutions for high-performance flexible packaging.

    • SCGC™ PP P409F Designed for bi-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films with ultra-high heat resistance, this resin is ideal for small pouches requiring advanced sealing and printing performance. It enables easy tearing, excellent printability, and high durability under retort packaging processes that involve heat and pressure sterilization.

Comprehensive Solutions from SCGC

SCGC not only provides high-quality resins but also offers end-to-end technical support, including film structure design, resin grade selection, and process optimization. The goal is to help customers achieve the right balance between production efficiency, print quality, and sustainability objectives.

Through its high heat-resistant printing film resins and complete range of mono-material PE and PP solutions, SCGC aims to drive the packaging industry toward a more sustainable future—one that enables recyclability without compromising performance or on-shelf visual appeal.
