MTT Under SCGC Enhances End-to-end Safety Standards, Launches C9+ Hydrocarbon Tank to Drive Efficiency, Operational Safety and Precision with Digital Technology

Rayong – 7 November 2025: Map Ta Phut Tank Terminal Co., Ltd. (MTT), a subsidiary of SCGC, continues to enhance its plant safety in line with international standards by implementing a comprehensive safety overhaul to make operations more efficient, safer, and more precise. This includes enhancing production processes and safety infrastructure, upgrading systems and equipment, and leveraging digital technology for real-time risk monitoring. MTT recently held an inauguration ceremony for its "C9+ Hydrocarbon Tank", which was designed and constructed with advanced technology and equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features. The event was presided over by Mr. Kanchai Thepworachai, Deputy Governor of Rayong Province, with Mr. Thawin Phothibuathong, Mayor of Map Ta Phut Municipality, and Mr. Taweechai Choksamut, Director of the Marine Department, Rayong Office, also in attendance. The ceremony was joined by Mr. Tharna Senee, Assistant Chief Operating and Innovation Officer – Olefins Manufacturing and Business, SCG Chemicals; and Mr. Witoon Pradubsripetch, Managing Director of MTT; along with executives from SCGC, at the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong Province.

For the "C9+ Hydrocarbon Tank," the company has implemented state-of-the-art international technology, emphasizing the enhancement of safety at every stage. Key features include:

    • Construction: The tank was built using the top-down erection technique, which involves assembling the tank from ground level. This method minimizes the risk of working at height, ensuring greater safety and precision.
    • Equipment: All equipment has been designed and installed to ensure safety throughout every operational stage. This includes the installation of level-based sampling valves along the tank's staircase, which prevent hazardous exposure to flammable vapors inside the tank and eliminate the the risks of working on the tank roof for product sampling. Furthermore, the tank is equipped with a pressure relief valve system compliant with API 2000 7th Edition, the latest standard in the industry.
    • Operation: The tank underwent a thorough inspection prior to commissioning to ensure all systems are in perfect operational condition. Additionally, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been established to ensure all employees and business partners involved in the process understand the correct and safe working methods. Emergency response drills are also conducted regularly in cooperation with government agencies and all relevant stakeholders.
