SCGC X BRÜCKNER: SUSTAINABLE HIGH PERFORMANCE BOPE FILM FROM SMX™ TECHNOLOGY

Biaxially Oriented Polyethylene (BOPE) Film has emerged as a leading solution—offering high strength, clarity, and excellent barrier properties while being fully recyclable and helping lower plastic use and carbon footprint.

With rising consumer demand for eco-friendly packaging, stricter environmental regulations, and rapid technological advances, the BOPE film market is expanding quickly, especially in Asia Pacific where sustainability is a top priority. Building on this global shift, SCGC has taken a major step forward in advancing BOPE technology that combines high performance with true sustainability.

SCGC develops mono-material solutions, becoming the first in the Asia Pacific region that can provide HDPE material for biaxially oriented polyethylene (BOPE) film with rich HDPE resin that enhances the performance of existing BOPE films in the market to create sustainable products. A big part of our success is credited to Brückner, a leader in biaxially oriented film manufacturing technologies. With Brückner’s machine, SCGC can convert our superior HDPE resin into BOPE film, resulting in a new offering of mono-material packaging with low haze and low thermal shrinkage, enabling more efficient use in flexible packaging applications.

SCGC uses SMX™ technology with the SCGC™ HDPE S197F grade, which plays a key role in improving resin performance, allowing BOPE films to be easily processed in printing, coating, and packaging applications. This enables BOPE to effectively replace traditional materials such as BOPET or BOPA (Nylon) films—paving the way for mono-material packaging solutions that align with efficient recycling processes. SCGC’s resin for BOPE-film production is tested for biaxial stretching in both laboratory and pilot line scales at Brückner Maschinenbau’s Technology Center in Germany, demonstrating excellent processability and ease of operation.

Brückner Maschinenbau recognizes SCGC for its strong commitment and continuous development in BOPE technology, which enables PE mono-material packaging structures to enhance both functionality and recyclability. BOPE films produced with SCGC’s resin can be applied across various flexible packaging segments, including personal and home care products such as liquid detergent, powder detergent, dishwashing liquid, as well as fresh and dry food packaging.
