Bangkok: RIL 1996 Co., Ltd. (RIL), a subsidiary of SCG Chemicals, or SCGC, which operates industrial estate management at Map Ta Phut, Rayong Province, has been certified by the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) as an “Eco Industrial Estate - World Class (Eco-World Class)” for the seventh consecutive year. This is the highest level of certification and marks RIL as the first industrial estate in Thailand to receive this recognition. The achievement reflects RIL’s commitment to and capability in elevating industrial estate management to international standards. This is accomplished by operating under ESG guidelines and leveraging technology and digital systems to enhance management efficiency, while serving as a model eco-industrial estate that prioritizes quality of life, community well-being, and environmental stewardship across five dimensions: physical, economic, environmental, social, and management. The certificate of honor was presented by Nattapol Rangsitpol, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, and received by Thongchai Ngamngernwan, Managing Director of RIL 1996 Co., Ltd. The event took place at the Eco Innovation Forum 2025, held under the theme " Developing Thailand through Sustainable New Industry".
Furthermore, the RIL Industrial Estate, under SCGC, has continuously initiated and implemented various projects under the ESG concept to promote sustainability, including:
- The Green Logistics Project. This initiative has introduced electric vehicles (EV cars) and electric buses (EV buses) to replace diesel-powered vehicles, successfully reducing greenhouse gas emissions from fuel use in transportation by up to 50%.
- The Eco-Efficiency Project. This initiative gathers and analyzes data across four eco-efficiency dimensions to enhance management performance in energy, wastewater, greenhouse gas emissions, and raw material utilization, to improve overall resource efficiency.
- The Eco School Project. Implemented at Ban Map Ta Phut School, located in Map Ta Phut Municipality, Rayong Province, the initiative promotes green building energy conservation and supports the school’s policy to achieve Level 5 energy efficiency certification and enhance its ongoing energy management.
- The White Road Safety Project. This initiative establishes policies and supports safety for the surrounding community such as upgrading traffic lights both inside and outside the industrial estate, improving lighting on community commuter routes, and implementing "The Lifesaver" project.
In addition, several factories under SCGC also received certificates of honor from the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT). The following companies were recognized as "Factories Supporting Data for Eco-Industrial Town Development": Map Ta Phut Olefins Co., Ltd., Thai Polyethylene Co., Ltd., Map Ta Phut Tank Terminal Co., Ltd., Rayong Terminal Co., Ltd., and Thai MMA Co., Ltd. These companies play a significant role by collaborating with all sectors in operations consistent with the principles of comprehensive eco-industrial town development. Additionally, Circular Plas Co., Ltd. received certification as an "Eco Factory for Waste Processor Beginner" from the Federation of Thai Industries. This certification represents an integrated management standard for sustainable business operations.
