OISHI Holding Company Limited (OISHI) continues to advance its sustainability mission by joining forces with SCG Chemicals (SCGC) to co-develop and elevate eco-friendly food packaging innovation. The collaboration introduces SCGC's "EcoRevo" biodegradable technology into the production of plastic packaging for the food business, creating new alternatives that meet consumer needs while supporting long-term environmental stewardship and advancing the circular economy in a tangible way.
Mrs. Kodchacorn Attarangsan, Deputy Managing Director (SCM, Product Quality and Development), OISHI Holding Company Limited, stated "OISHI has consistently prioritized business development alongside environmental responsibility, particularly in developing food packaging that meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. Our collaboration with SCGC to apply EcoRevo technology to packaging used in OISHI's Japanese restaurant chains nationwide marks a significant step forward in responsible packaging management, while offering better choices for consumers and the environment over the long term."
Mr. Suracha Udomsak, Chief Operations and Innovation Officer, SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited, added "SCGC is committed to developing polymer technologies and innovations that meet the practical needs of businesses and consumers, while driving the circular economy through concrete action — including the promotion of closed-loop waste management. In this collaboration with OISHI, we have applied our EcoRevo biodegradable technology, which not only allows plastic packaging to re-enter the recycling process but also enables biodegradation under appropriate conditions within a defined timeframe, in accordance with international standard ISO 17556. This technology has been used to produce food packaging across all OISHI Japanese restaurants nationwide, delivering on quality, safety, and environmental friendliness. SCGC believes that collaboration between the food and industrial sectors will help drive the development of packaging solutions that serve both consumers and businesses, while sustaining environmental care."
The collaboration also aims to deliver positive outcomes across three key dimensions: maximizing resource efficiency in line with circular economy principles; promoting collection and return systems to effectively channel packaging back into the recycling process; and reducing residual waste in the ecosystem.
The partnership between OISHI and SCGC therefore represents not only a collaboration between the food and polymer industries, but also a concrete example of putting circular economy principles into practice through innovation that serves consumers, businesses, and the environment in support of long-term sustainable growth.
