World Oceans Day, June 8, 2026 – Rayong: SCGC, a leading integrated polymer and solutions provider for sustainability, led by Ms. Namthip Samphowprasert, Brand Management Director, delivered SCGC-DMCR Litter Trap Gen 3, an innovative floating litter trap designed to prevent waste at its source before it reaches the ocean, to Thailand’s Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The handover ceremony was presided over by Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, during the World Oceans Day event, “REIMAGINE: Rethinking Our Oceans for a Sustainable Future,” held at Siam Square, Bangkok.

SCGC has delivered 7 litter traps which will be installed across 6 coastal provinces: Rayong, Samut Sakhon, Trang, Pattani, Songkhla, and Krabi. To date, SCGC has installed a total of 72 floating litter traps in 19 coastal provinces nationwide. Collectively, these installations have captured more than 100 tons of waste (as of April 2026), demonstrating tangible and continuous progress in reducing marine debris before it enters Thailand’s seas.

The SCGC-DMCR Litter Trap Gen 3 is the latest generation of floating litter trap innovation. Redesigned to be more than 50% lighter than previous models, it enables faster transportation and installation while reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions associated with logistics. The floating litter trap is also highly durable, safe for marine ecosystems, and fully recyclable, reflecting SCGC’s commitment to developing innovative solutions that support environmental sustainability and marine conservation.
