SCGC Hosts Online Seminar on Petrochemical Market Trends and Sustainable Polymer Innovations for Japanese Plastic Manufacturers

Business ESG Circular Economy Innovation Sustainability Digitization

November 20, 2024 - SCG Chemicals (SCGC) held an online seminar titled “Together Through Challenges – Petrochemical Outlook and Green Polymer Product Updates”. The event provided updates on current and future petrochemical market trends and showcased sustainable polymer innovations tailored for Japanese plastic manufacturers. Key highlights included high-quality plastic pellets produced by SMX™ Technology and High Quality PCR (Post Consumer Recycled Resin) under the SCGC GREEN POLYMER™ brand, ideal for producing bottles and plastic bags. Mr. Wichai Techachindawong, General Purpose Polymers Business Director at Thai Polyethylene Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of SCGC, gave an opening speech.

As the global economic slowdown impacts the petrochemical sector and the importance of adaptability for business growth, SCGC also introduced advanced plastic innovations designed to balance high quality with sustainability:

SCGCTM HDPE Grades produced by SMX™ technology:

    • S411B, S495B, S414B: For blow-molded packaging with reduced material use and lower carbon emissions.
    • S111F: For high-quality film applications, such as poultry packaging.
    • S199F: With superior impact resistance, ideal for consumer goods such as shopping bags. o S437B: A versatile new grade for producing household product bottles, milk or juice bottles, and even large chemical or oil containers.

Recycled Plastic Innovations under SCGC GREEN POLYMER™ brand:

    • High Quality PCR: Mechanically recycled plastic resin derived from used plastics through cleaning and sorting processes.
    • Certified Circular PE and PP Resin: Produced via advanced recycling, converting used plastics into circular naphtha feedstock for manufacturing new plastic pellets with properties comparable to virgin materials.
