SCGC Teams Up with Public Sector to Enhance Plastics Industry Competitiveness, Support Future Industries, and Drive Thailand’s Recycled Plastics Standards Toward Global Recognition
Bangkok – 8 January 2026: At the “DIPROM Rama IV Open House” event, SCG Chemicals, or SCGC, a leader in integrated polymer and solutions provider for sustainability, together with the Department of Industrial Promotion, and in collaboration with the Office of Industrial Economics and the Plastics Institute of Thailand, announced the advancement of a strategic partnership aimed at driving Thailand’s plastics industry and entrepreneurs toward carbon neutrality in alignment with national targets. This collaboration also seeks to elevate Thailand’s post-consumer recycled resin (PCR) standards to achieve global recognition, while fostering plastic innovations for future industries, such as disaster prevention solutions that address environmental challenges in Thailand and across the region.
At the event, Mr. Sakchai Patiparnpreechavud, Chief Executive Officer and President of SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited, or SCGC, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on “Enhancing the Competitiveness of the Plastics Industry to Support Future Industries” with Ms. Natthiya Netayasubha, Director General of the Department of Industrial Promotion; Mr. Supakit Boonsiri, Director General of the Office of Industrial Economics; and Ms. Sineenat Louchintong, Acting Director of the Thailand Plastics Institute. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Thailand’s Minister of Industry; Mr. Nattapol Rangsitpol, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry; Mr. Panuwat Triyangkulsri, Director of the Foundation for Industrial Development and Chairman of the Thailand Plastics Institute; and Ms. Benjamaporn Ekkachart, Director of the Foundation for Industrial Development.
Mr. Sakchai said, “This agreement reflects the strength of collaboration between the public and private sectors in driving Thailand’s industries across all dimensions toward achieving the nation’s environmental goals, while simultaneously enhancing the global competitiveness of Thailand’s plastics industry. SCGC is ready to collaborate and work in an integrated manner with government agencies, institutes, organizations, and relevant stakeholders to deliver tangible outcomes. These include the development and enhancement of recycled plastics standards to achieve global recognition, as well as the creation of product prototypes and piloting new markets for future industries. Such efforts will help elevate Thailand’s industrial sector, economy, and environment toward a sustainable future.”
“In this regard, SCGC is prepared to leverage its extensive knowledge and expertise across multiple areas, including world-class research and development processes, recycling technologies, and efficiency enhancement through modern technologies, state-of-art machinery, and artificial intelligence (AI). SCGC will also support workforce skill development and empower Thai entrepreneurs to transition toward next-generation, environmentally responsible industrial practices. These include carbon footprint calculation and reduction, improved energy efficiency, expanded use of recycled plastic resins, and development of social innovation initiatives, such as flood protection equipment for areas near water sources, and floating litter trap to prevent waste from flowing into the sea.” Mr. Sakchai concluded.
