Business Investor Relations

May 15, 2024 - Rayong - SCG Chemicals (SCGC) remains steadfast in its commitment to assisting those affected, swiftly extending aid and intensifying environmental monitoring efforts.

Mr. Mongkol Hengrojanasophon, Chief Operating Officer, SCGC, stated, “Following our visits and close interactions with the community, we have promptly initiated measures to provide urgent assistance to those in need. This includes ensuring access to healthcare services and temporary housing for vulnerable groups residing near the incident site. Additionally, we have deployed a dedicated team of medical professionals to offer personalized care. In terms of environmental monitoring, we continue to maintain strict oversight, with our environmental officers conducting air quality assessments across 40 community areas to restore confidence within the community.”

Mr. Mongkol emphasized, “Currently, the company has refrained from discharging water outside the factory, primarily sourced from recent rainfall and stored in designated manholes and rainwater drains. We are collaborating with relevant authorities, including the Maptaphut Industrial Port Office, Marine Office 6, and Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment Rayong, to assess water quality. Upon approval, water will be safely drained from the factory. Furthermore, water and foam residues from firefighting operations are being disposed of by licensed companies, in accordance with legal requirements.”

Air quality measurements conducted by the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand and Map Ta Phut Municipality affirm that air quality levels are within acceptable standards. For those impacted, the assistance center operates 24 hours a day and can be reached at 085-650-4049.
