SCGC Reaches Out to Local Community: Promises Continued Support and Environmental Monitoring

May 12, 2024 - Rayong – Mr. Sakchai Patiparnpreechavud, Chief Executive Officer and President of SCG Chemicals (SCGC), alongside Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, visited the impacted communities to extend apologies and attentively listen to their concerns. Assuring the residents of a harmonious coexistence between the communities and the refinery, SCGC remains committed to ongoing environmental monitoring.

Expressing remorse for the recent incident, Mr. Sakchai stated, “We deeply regret the occurrence of this incident and are actively working to swiftly rectify the situation. Our priority lies in assessing potential impacts on the health of the affected communities and the environmental integrity. We have promptly mobilized a dedicated team to provide comprehensive support to the community, intensifying our efforts to alleviate their concerns. Additionally, we have established a 24-hour relief center to address the health concerns of community members. Medical personnel with expertise are available at the Public Health Service Center Takuan - Ao Pradu, Rayong Province, to conduct tests and offer guidance.”

Furthermore, Mr. Sakchai emphasized, “The company maintains vigilant oversight of environmental quality. Air quality assessments conducted by the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) and Map Ta Phut Municipality affirm that air quality levels are within acceptable standards. Moreover, measures are in place to ensure the safe disposal of water and foam used in firefighting operations, preventing any environmental contamination.”
