SCGC joins hands with Doi kham in "Kea-Lang-Kep (Cut-Clean-Collect) on Tour” activity at Bang Sue in the month of World Environment Day.

Business ESG Circular Economy Sustainability

In celebration of World Environment Day, Doi Kham Food Products Company Limited, led by Chanannat Polpathapee, Executive Vice-President for Sales and Marketing, partnered with SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited (SCGC), led by Krisada Ruangchotevit, Head of the ESG Office. Along with the SCG Bang Sue community, they organized the inaugural ""Kae Lang Kep (Cut-Clean-Collect) on Tour" event—a part of the Green World Project. The event was held at the SCG Headquarters in Bang Sue on 7 June 2023.

At the event, designated zones were established for activities to share knowledge about waste management for UHT boxes, such as the "Kae Laew Pai Nai (Tear to Where it Ends)" initiative. This activity explained the purpose of the activity, detailed the process of tearing, rinsing, and collecting, and the upcycling journey of waste into various products—ranging from Doi Kham pallets, multipurpose chairs, traffic cones, and clocks to eco-friendly plant pots. In addition, a prototype of an automatic UHT box return machine equipped with a comprehensive management system was showcased. The prototype was designed by a third-year student from the Faculty of Architecture, Art, and Design at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. These initiatives are instrumental in reducing the increasing volume of general waste each year. Furthermore, the event also featured fun game zones where participants could engage in games such as "Tomato Bomb" and "Lucky Doi," win various prizes, and enjoy a photo booth activity with three specially designed adorable frames exclusive to the event.

In addition to providing a venue for the event, "SCG" featured an educational zone known as the "Bang Sue Model." This initiative served as a model for waste management at the source, operating under the principles of a 100% Circular Economy. It encouraged employees to embrace the concept of "Resource Maximization, Correct Sorting, Proper Disposal." This approach aims to reduce resource consumption, increase resource efficiency, and encourage sorting different types of waste before disposal. The goal is to achieve zero waste to landfill and increase the volume of waste to re-enter the recycling process following the principles of the Circular Economy. The event also featured the introduction of "Wake Up Waste," a start-up aimed at enhancing the efficiency of SCGC's recycling process, demonstrated via a compressor installed on a truck. The event attracted many enthusiastic participants. Updates on the next "Tear, Rinse, Collect on Tour" events and locations where Doi Kham will be hosting can be found on the Facebook page "Green World Project", Instagram: doikham.go.green, and the website www.doikham.co.th.

About Doi Kham

Stemming from the broad and far-sighted vision of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who aspired to enhance the quality of life of people living in the mountains, he promoted the farming of cold-climate fruits as an alternative to opium poppy. In parallel, His Majesty initiated the establishment of cooperatives for hill people, and the Royal Factories to purchase goods at fair prices and process produce from farmers under the brand "Doi Kham." The factories have also been tasked with conducting research and development. To further this vision, the "Doi Kham Food Products Company Limited" was established as a social business in 1994. Doi Kham constantly recognizes that the profit is seeing all Thais eating well, living well, and having an improved quality of life, which invariably means the long-term happiness of all Thais... As the motto puts it, "Agriculture for the community, producing for the Thai people.
