Rayong - 12 October 2022 SCGC accompanied representatives of three local communities, namely Khao Phai Community Enterprise, Khode Hin 2 Community Enterprise, and Noen Phayom Community Waste Bank in Map Ta Phut Municipality, Rayong to the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization to have their assessment results under the Low Emission Support Scheme (LESS) certified. The assessment indicated that they successfully reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by as much as 117.306 tons CO2e in total due to their participation in the Environmental Bank activity, sponsored by SCGC through the Waste-free Community Project, which educates communities on resource maximization, waste reduction, and recycling, thus contributing to reduced GHG emissions and mitigating global warming. Under this project, digital technology like the application ‘KoomKah’ has also been introduced to waste banks and community members.

SCGC strives to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, with a goal of reducing at least 20% GHG emissions compared to the base year 2021 by 2030 using the “Low Carbon, Low Waste” approach, which seeks to foster engagement with communities, apply circular economy principles across the value chain, and promote carbon offsetting activities, such as reforestation under the Plant-Cultivate-Protect Campaign, which aims to grow a million trees.
