SCGC's RIL Becomes Thailand’s First Industrial Estate to Be Certified Eco-World Class for 4 Consecutive Years

Bangkok - 30 September 2022 RIL 1996 Co., Ltd. has been certified with the top-tier Eco-World Class status by the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) for the fourth consecutive year, making it the first company in Thailand to accomplish this feat. This achievement underlines its leadership in integrated chemicals business for sustainability as well as its commitment to community and environmental care guided by corporate governance alongside business operation in accordance with the ESG approach. This accomplishment is also a reflection of its intent to elevate its manufacturing management to international standards and establish itself as a model of eco-industrial estate that places emphasis on the enhancement of quality of life, society, and the environment across all dimensions.

Key projects contributing to RIL’s success in obtaining the Eco-World Class status this year include:

• • Symbiosis: A project involving fuel gas exchange and flare gas recycling among plants within the industrial estate, which reduces and converts waste into added commercial value and serves as a model for Thailand
  • Flare Gas Recovery: The recovery of hydrocarbons set to be burned off for reuse has reduced GHG emissions by 997 tons.
  • Vent Gas Recovery: The installation of pipes for diverting vent gases back into production has cut the amount of raw material purchase by 13,664 tons.
  • Circular Economy: Activated carbon undergoes reactivation for reuse, significantly reducing the amount of waste destined for disposal.
  • Eco Community: An eco-community project at Noen Phayom Community in Map Ta Phut Municipality, Rayong, was undertaken to enhance the quality of life through infrastructural development, activities, and community consolidation.
  • Local economy development and promotion: Relevant projects include green community enterprise promotion projects, such as waste separation and added value creation from waste projects, and initiatives focusing on community safety, such as the Lifesaver program.
