SCG Meets with BR-VT Officials to Discuss Long Son Petrochemicals Progress, Eyeing Eco-Smart Project

BA RIA - VUNG TAU, Vietnam – March 3, 2022 SCG met with provincial authorities to discuss the Long Son Petrochemicals (LSP) project's progress and the future expansion project of transforming the Long Son commune into an eco-smart island using advanced, green, and clean technology.

SCG, led by Mr. Roongrote Rangsiyopash, President and Chief Executive Officer, convened with Mr. Pham Viet Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council. Other delegates from Vietnam who attended the meeting were Nguyen Thi Yen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of the National Assembly Delegation, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches, and Vung Tau city.

Mr. Roongrote stated during the conference that the Long Son Petrochemicals (LSP) project, had reached 91% completion. The plant will be operational in the third and fourth quarters of 2022.

In addition, Mr. Roongrote expressed gratitude to the Ba Ria - Vung Tau (BR-VT) province for its support in accommodating foreign enterprises, investment, and vaccination support for all contractors, workers, and employees. SCG and LSP have always prioritized COVID-19 prevention and control to maintain a safe working environment and social security in the community.

SCG also indicated an interest in expanding its investment in a 1,302-hectare industrial park and a 243-hectare port in Long Son commune to explore the feasibility of transforming the island into an eco-smart island focused on advanced, green, and clean energy.

Mr. Pham Viet Thanh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, praised SCG's efforts in implementing the project in Long Son commune, which entails a substantial workload and over 15,000 employees, in addition to pandemic prevention and control assistance.
