SCG and TTCL Team Up with SUT to Launch a Solar Floating Power Plant to Supply Electricity to SUT Hospital, Accelerating Clean Energy to Mitigate Global Warming

Bangkok – 1 June 2021 SCG, TTCL, and Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) have announced a partnership to install a 2.5-megawatt solar floating power plant in the university pond to supply electricity to the university's hospital through a private power purchase agreement (Private PPA), a strategy that will support public health efforts in Nakhon Ratchasima and the lower northeastern provinces. The provision of electricity will alleviate the hospital's burden on electricity expenses and help cut carbon dioxide emissions according to the sustainable development strategy and the ESG concept. The project is expected to be completed in late 2021 and to begin power generation in early 2022.

On this occasion, the "Solar Power System Research and Development Project" memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed to advance renewable energy innovation in Thailand and promote the learning center for alternative energy to drive Thailand toward sustainable clean energy and help tackle the climate emergency. The MoU was signed by Pisan Uawithya and Makoto Nakadoi, the executive members from Siam GNE Solar Energy Company Limited, and Associate Professor Weerapong Pairsuwan, Rector of Suranaree University of Technology. Mongkol Hengrojanasophon, Vice President of Chemicals Business, SCG, witnessed the signing via a virtual conference held at SUT's Administrative Building's conference room.
