SCG Joins Hands with Dow Thailand Group and Nong Fab Community, Hosting 2020 Kathin Ceremony to Promote Community Culture and Religious Traditions

Rayong - 10 October 2020 Chemicals Business, SCG, Dow Thailand Group, Map Ta Phut Municipality, and Nong Fab community organized an annual Kathin ceremony 2020. This year, the ceremony was themed “Reducing Global Warming” to raise the environmental awareness of source reduction to limit carbon dioxide emissions, one of the major contributors to global warming, and promote religious activities and long-standing traditions.

Management teams of Chemicals Business, SCG, and Dow Thailand Group joined the ceremony and walked in the Kathin procession. The ceremony was joined by senior executives from Chemicals Business, SCG, led by Mr. Tanawong Areeratchakul, President of Chemicals Business, SCG, Mr. Cholanat Yanaranop, Advisor to the President and CEO of SCG, Mr. Sakchai Patiparnpreechavud, Vice President of Chemicals Business, SCG, Mr. Mongkol Hengrojanasophon, Vice President of Chemicals Business, SCG, and Mr. Suracha Udomsak, Vice President of Chemicals Business, SCG, executives and staff of Chemicals Business, together with Dow Thailand Group led by Mr. Sutin Prapaitrakool, Integrated Supply Chain Director, Mr. Narin Wongtanasirikul, Responsible Care Director; and Nong Fab community members led by Mr. Itthi Jamjaeng, Nong Fab community leader. The ceremony was held at Nong Fab Temple in Map Ta Phut subdistrict, Mueang District, Rayong province. Chemicals Business, Dow Thailand Group, executives, staff, and donors have raised 1,029,685 Baht donations. 

This year, the Kathin ceremony was themed “Reducing Global Warming,” where participants brought their reusable food containers to as the ceremony bans foam or single-use food containers. As Nong Fab community is among communities joining the program “Community Like Waste” (Waste-Free Community) initiated by Chemicals Business, SCG, the temple provides different waste bins for wet waste, dry waste, and various waste types for waste separation and recycling. The effort is part of source reduction and landfill diversion to prevent waste from leaking into the environment. Waste reduction can play a role in minimizing carbon dioxide emissions, one of the significant contributors to global warming.
