SCG Recognized for Exemplary Sustainable and Low-carbon Organization at “Unifying Our Hearts to Reduce Global Warming 2020,” Aiming to Achieve Long-Term Target of Cutting Greenhouse

Bangkok - 16 September 2020 Mr. Mongkol Hengrojanasophon, Vice President of Chemicals Business, SCG, and Chairman of the Climate Change and Energy Committee, SCG, received an award for outstanding corporate performance indicated by Low Carbon and Sustainable Business Index on the company’s behalf. The award was presented by Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment at the event “Unifying Our Hearts to Reduce Global Warming 2020” organized by Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO).

Moreover, with long-standing and serious efforts to reduce global warming and greenhouse gas emissions in conducting business activities, three subsidiaries companies under Chemicals Business, SCG, have earned certificates for “Corporate Carbon Footprint.” Mr. Masanao Kobayashi, Managing Director of Siam Tohcello, and Mr. Suwit Wisitworanat, Managing Director of Map Ta Phut Tank Terminal, and Mr. Montree Kunwandeem, Manager of Occupational Safety, Health and Environment of Rayong Terminal received certificates on the companies’ behalf.

Chemicals Business, SCG, has placed great emphasis on climate emergency in which it believes all sectors must be involved. The company has introduced several energy activities for sustainable development to achieve the SCG’s target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 28% within 2030 to keep global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius.
