SCG Expands SCG Floating Solar Solutions to Agriculture as Solution for Sustainable Water Management, Launching Pivtoal Trial in Bang Sue

Bangkok – 5 August 2020 Mr. Pisan Uawithya, Emerging Businesses Director of Chemicals Business, SCG, welcomed Dr. Royol Chitradon, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hydro-Informatics Institute, and Dr. Royboon Rassameethes, Deputy Director of Hydro-Informatics Institute to a water pond in SCG Headquarters at Bang Sue and led a tour of SCG Floating Solar Solutions and floating water pump for agriculture.

The floating solar pontoons are designed to be compatible with the water pump, which can leverage clean energy produced from the solar panels to pump and distribute water for farm use. The innovation is another option to efficiently and sustainably manage water for agricultural use. It is made to address the inadequacies regarding repeatedly flooded areas and farming areas that are out of reach of power.

The floating water pump is developed to provide water management and pumping system using water pipe product from Nawaplastic Industries Company Limited and Agcura, a digital platform for agricultural water management which integrates smart sensor to measure soil moisture, relative humidity, and temperature to calculate the right amount of water for the plants growing around the water pond. The innovation also uses IoT to automatically control the watering system and schedules for optimal water use while saving water resources and making the best use of resources.

The installation of the floating solar panels and floating water pump for agriculture use of SCG Floating Solar Solutions series will enable farmers in remote areas to pump water from water sources for farm use and eliminate the need to wire transmission lines into the farm or water sources. Farmers can optimize and manage water efficiently with no issues on water level or depth in the event of the low tide. With these solutions, farmers don’t need to sacrifice any agricultural potential land areas.
