SCG Joins Forces with PPP Plastics for “Drive Circular in Action – Drop Point of Used Plastic”

Bangkok – 15 June 2020 Chemicals Business, SCG, led by Mr. Sakchai Patiparnpreechavud, Vice President – Polyolefins and Vinyl Business, has joined forces to promote the Circular Economy at the event “Circular in Action – Drop Point of Used Plastic by PPP Plastics” with over 60 network members from the government, businesses, and civic groups. The group has vowed to take a stance on making closed-loop recycling of plastic where plastic wastes are converted into plastic resins and recycled into new products. The effort is to prevent these plastic items from escaping into the environment or landfill on top of reducing marine pollution from plastics and promoting resource efficiency and recycling in line with the circular economy. At the event, Mr. Suvit Maesincee, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, presided over the opening ceremony and outlined the BGC policy to drive Thailand toward sustainable growth after COVID-19.

The pilot project of Circular in Action – Drop Point of Used Plastic is part of the campaign “Magic Hands x Won by PPP Plastics” initiated by the Public-Private Partnership for Sustainable Plastic and Waste Management (PPP Plastics) and Won Project. At the initial phase, about 300 Won’s drop points for 12 plastic types will be placed in Bangkok and vicinities, Chonburi, and Rayong province, which aims to establish drop points for used plastic bags and plastic films. The effort is to prevent these plastic items from escaping into the environment or landfill on top of reducing marine pollution from plastics and promoting resource efficiency and recycling in line with the circular economy.
