SCG Offers Cloth Face Masks to Help Protect Communities From COVID-19

Rayong - 9 April 2020 Chemicals Business, SCG, led by Mr. Pichet Tangpanyarat, Managing Director of Rayong Olefins Company Limited, and Mr. Phusit Thepkliang, Safety, Health and Environment Department Manager of Bangkok Synthetics Company Limited, donated 36,500 pieces of cloth masks for adults and children worth 550,000 Baht to 72 communities surrounding the factory in Map Ta Phut Municipality, Mapkha Pattana Municipality, and Ban Chang Municipality.​ The donation aims at reducing the risk of COVID-19 infection in communities. Mr. Tawin Phobuathong, Mayor of Map Ta Phut Municipality, Mr. Suchin Poonhiran, Mayor of Ban Chang Municipality, and Mr. Sukit Chanmanee, Mayor of Mapkha Pattana Municipality, and community representatives received the handout at Map Ta Phut Municipality office. The effort is intended to encourage community residents to wear face masks when leaving home in tune with the guidelines announced by the Rayong's Provincial Communicable Disease Committee that makes the wearing of masks mandatory in public places, effective on April 9, 2020.

Mr. Suchin Poonhiran, Mayor of Ban Chang Municipality, added, “The face masks given are hand made by community residents. The pattern is from the Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health. The handout is to support communities in Map Ta Phut municipality and Ban Chang municipality who have sewing jobs, which help create an alternative income source for communities during the COVID-19 crisis.”
