SCG Joins Hands with Bangchak to Recycle Used Lubricant Containers under “Greenovative Lube Packaging” Scheme

BANGKOK – 21 December 2018 Chemicals Business, SCG, and Bangchak have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Greenovative Lube Packaging to develop a lubricant packaging recycling scheme with the aim of minimizing the use of new raw materials in the production process and reducing plastic wastes based on Circular Economy concept.

Mr. Sakchai Patiparnpreechavud, Vice President – Polyolefins and Vinyl Business of Chemicals Business, SCG, jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Greenovative Lube Packaging with Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, led by Mr. Somchai Tejavanija, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Executive Vice President, Marketing Business Group. Mr. Chaiwat Kovavisarach, President and Chief Executive Officer, presided over the signing ceremony at M Tower, Sukhumvit Road Soi 62.

The project “Greenovative Lube Packaging” is a new recycling model for used lubricant containers based on a circular economy’s resource efficiency approach. The used lubricant containers will be collected from Bangchak petrol stations and FURiO Care, the lubricant replacement center and will eventually be converted into raw materials for producing new lubricant packages. Chemicals Business, SCG, a developer and a manufacturer of special-grade high-density polyethylene will be collaborating with relevant parties throughout the product lifecycle from HDPE producers, packaging moulders, product owners, service providers, end-users to recyclers.
