SCG Chemicals clinches 2 awards for using environmental- friendly materials

The "Origami Palm Melamine Tableware" set won the Excellence Award from the Russian House for International Scientific and Technological Cooperation; and the ITEX Bronze Medal by the Malaysian Invention and Design Society at the ITEX 2016 (International Invention and Innovation Exhibition 2016) held in Malaysia. The Origami Palm Melamine Tableware set stands out above its competition via the use of carefully thought-out Eco Materials derived from waste material left over by Palm oil production – which is used as an alternative raw material in place of the conventional paper pulp, normally required in Melamine production. The aforementioned "green" technology unique to SCG Chemicals contributes to a reduction in plastic, while maintaining functionality and safety. The Origami Palm Melamine Tableware set is the latest design innovation in the tableware industry which is a testament to its commitment to preserving the environment. A synergistic collaboration was realized between the Design Catalyst by SCG Chemicals and the Eco-design team of Assistant Professor Dr. Singh Intrachooto and Assistant Professor Dr. Rattanawan Mungkung of the Kasetsart University. The design was inspired by the Japanese traditional art of paper folding, also known as Origami. The end result is a unique design perspective that is translated from the actual folding and sculpting techniques which take form as the paper form takes shape; the design concept is a communication of the fluid motion which maintains simplicity in its entirety.
