SCGC Joins Forces with Government, Industry, and Communities to Protect Rayong’s Coastline on ICC Day 2026, Advancing Waste Management for a Sustainable Ocean

Rayong – 19 September 2026 International Coastal Cleanup Day: SCG Chemicals or SCGC, joined forces with the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) and industrial operators in Rayong, bringing together 22 organizations from the public sector, industry, local communities, and employees for a beach cleanup activity on International Coastal Cleanup Day 2026 (ICC Day 2026). Held for the 24th consecutive year, the initiative promotes proper waste management practices and continued collective action to protect Rayong’s marine and coastal resources.

The event was presided over by Ruengrit Prakobtham, the Provincial Chief Administrative Officer, with Witoon Pradubsripetch, Managing Director of Map Ta Phut Tank Terminal Co., Ltd., one of SCGC's subsidiaries, representing the company. Together with employees, local communities, and more than 200 volunteers, participants collected waste and helped clean up, collecting over 190 kilograms of waste. Participants also learned proper waste separation practices, reinforcing awareness of the importance of managing waste at source and recycle materials, which in line with circular economy principles.

SCGC is committed to operating in accordance with ESG principles, including the promoting waste management alongside marine ecosystem restoration. This begins with waste separation at source through the Bang Sue Model, which encourages the behavior of “Resource Maximization, Correct Sorting, and Proper Disposal” to help prevent waste from leaking into the marine environment. SCGC has also collaborated with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) to develop SCGC Floating Litter Traps, an innovation designed to capture waste at river mouths before it reaches the sea. SCGC further advances the Nets Up model, which collects used fishing nets and brings them back into the recycling process, transforming them into marine materials and creating new value from used resources. The company continues to apply innovation through SCGC Fish Homes, creating habitats for marine life while helping restore marine ecosystems and enhance biodiversity for the long term.

International Coastal Cleanup Day (ICC Day) is held annually on the third Saturday of September, bringing together nearly 20 million volunteers from more than 100 countries to participate in coastal cleanup activities around the world. In 2026, the initiative is held under the theme “Redesign a Future Without Plastic Pollution,” encouraging collective action toward a future where resources are used efficiently and kept in circulation to create sustainable value.
