SCGC’s PE-VHAR Innovation Wins Global Industry Award, Setting New Standards for Abrasion-Resistant Pipes

Business ESG Circular Economy Innovation Solutions Sustainability Investor Relations

SCGC reinforces its leadership in PE pipe innovation by winning the Best PE100 Related Presentation award at the 22nd Plastic Pipes Conference (PPXXII), held in Warsaw, Poland, from September 15–17, 2025. This conference is recognized as the most important international technical platform for the PE pipe industry, organized every two years, attracting over 370 participants from 36 countries and featuring 193 leading companies worldwide. The event showcased nearly 100 technical presentations and exhibitions from 31 companies.

SCGC was honored for its research and development project, “Innovative HDPE Pipes with Superior Abrasion and Crack Resistance for Mining Applications,” which introduced the PE-VHAR (Very High Abrasion Resistance) innovation for HDPE pipes. These pipes offer twice the abrasion resistance compared to conventional H1000PC (PE100) pipes, thanks to SCGC’s SMX™ technology. They are ideal for harsh environments such as mineral slurry transportation in mining, chemical solution transfer, and underwater dredging.

This innovation enables pipes to withstand severe abrasion from slurry transport, reducing replacement frequency, lowering maintenance costs, and minimizing downtime. It extends pipe lifespan and ensures recyclability at end-of-life. Moreover, PE-VHAR pipes can be manufactured using existing equipment, making the transition smooth and cost-effective.

This achievement reflects SCGC’s continuous innovation journey, from PE100 to PE100RC and PE112, enhancing PE pipe strength, flexibility, and resistance to high pressure and extreme conditions. These advancements position PE pipes as a key solution for modern infrastructure and the growing mining industry, driven by demand for minerals in EV batteries and electronic devices.

SCGC also collaborates with mining industry partners worldwide, from Oceania and Southeast Asia to Africa, North America, and Latin America, to understand requirements, conduct field tests, and deliver innovations recognized by the industry.
Winning this award underscores SCGC’s progress in developing materials that meet real-world needs and marks another significant step toward advancing plastic pipe standards for a stronger, more sustainable future.
