Advanced Recycling: Beyond Burning

Advanced Recycling is often misunderstood as incineration, but the two are fundamentally different.

Incineration is a thermal process that burns plastic waste at high temperatures to generate energy, often used for electricity or heat. While it reduces landfill waste, it destroys the material completely, meaning plastics can’t be reused. Moreover, incineration produces significantly more greenhouse gas emissions than alternative processes.

Advanced Recycling works differently. It turns hard-to-recycle plastics into new, high-quality feedstock through chemical transformation. This process allows plastics that would otherwise be wasted to re-enter the production cycle and even meet food-grade and pharmaceutical standards. By doing so, Advanced Recycling preserves the value of materials and strengthens the circular economy.

Bottom line:

  • Incineration = Energy Recovery
  • Advanced recycling = Material Recovery

One burns, the other rebuilds.
