Circular Economy Sustainability CSR

At the end of 2022, SCGC, has joined hands with the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion (DEQP) and the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) to scale up the Upcycling Milk Pouches Project, which puts forward a school waste management model in accordance with circular economy principles (Circular Economy in School Model) initiated by SCGC, with the goal of educating young students about resource maximization through hands-on experience. Recycling used milk pouches into durable plastic objects such as chairs and plant pots, sets a good and tangible example for young generation.

Since January 2023, SCGC has received over 890 kilograms used milk pouches, well sorted by students and delivered 6 recycled plastic chairs made from used milk pouches for schools in Suphan Buri, Samut Sakhon and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

In order to enhance the logistic management, SCGC partners with Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand, the central region (Muak Lek factory), a school milk distributor for many provinces in the central region, to backhaul sorted used milk pouches from schools in the area for recycling. The trial process will be launched in pilot provinces including Chai Nat and Ang Thong, starting in May 2023. This partnership will not only increase the efficiency of transportation process but also emphasizes the shared goals of the two companies in protecting the environment and promoting environmental mindset for young generation.
