SCGC Wins 2 Awards at Marketing Award of Thailand 2022

Business ESG Circular Economy Innovation Solutions Sustainability CSR Awards

SCGC has won two awards at the Marketing Award of Thailand 2022 (MAT AWARD 2022), Thailand’s largest marketing campaign competition hosted by the Marketing Association of Thailand (MAT), thanks to its Upcycling Milk Pouches Project, namely the Gold Award in Sustainable Marketing and the Bronze Award in Brand Experience & Communication. The accolades highlight SCGC’s commitment to an ESG-led business approach and adoption of circular economy principles. The key to the success lies in having true insights into the problem facing the stakeholders as well as fostering participation and providing waste management education to all parties across the value chain, including youths, teachers, and staff. As part of this project, innovation has been applied to transform milk pouches, whose utility lasts for only 10 minutes, into long-lasting recycled plastic chairs, thus adding value to it. Through collaboration with network members to scale up the initiative, the project now has over 1,700 participating schools across 33 provinces and has put over one million milk pouches through the recycling process.

To replicate the success of the Upcycling Milk Pouch Project on a larger scale, SCGC has been working in collaboration with the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) and the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion (DEQP) to drive the Eco-School Project to achieve the Zero Waste School goal of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Education. In addition, SCGC has joined forces with various private organizations to recover used plastics and put it back in circulation. At present, the project has over 1,700 participating schools across 33 provinces and has put over one million milk pouches through the recycling process (as of 31 March 2022).
