SCG Chemicals and EXAT Reinforce Thailand 4.0, Showcase Cable Inspection Robot and Highway Sound Barrier for Transport Infrastructure Maintenance

The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) led by EXAT governor NarongGieddech (4th left) and SCG Chemicals led by Somchai Wangwattanapanich, Vice President – Operations (3rd left) together revealed the progress of their innovations under MoU for Research and Development, namely "Highway Sound Barrier" and "Cable Inspection Robot." The Highway Sound Barrier will help maintain transportation infrastructure as well as efficiently reduce noise pollution and eliminate nuisance to residential communities. On top of that, it also contains rubber aimed to promote Thai rubber farmers and add values to Thai agricultural products. Furthermore, Cable Inspection Robot is another innovative product that is specially designed for EXAT to improve the efficiency and precision of cable inspection operations for cable-stayed bridges and reduce man-hours on site with enhanced safety. These two innovations have demonstrated SCG Chemicals' commitment in capitalizing its expertise in material sciences, engineering design and advanced robotic technology to bring about innovative and technological solutions. Let’s Play… Let’s Share - SCG Chemicals donates playground to Wattakhan Temple School in Rayong

SCG Chemicals led by Sakchai Patiparnpreechavud, Managing Director of SCG Plastics Company and SCG Performance Chemicals donated a playground at Wattakhan temple school as part of the SCG Chemicals’ initiative “Let’s Play, Let’s Share.” The playground provided to schools that joined Rural Development Volunteer Campscheme will help children to develop their learning ability outdoor as well as build collaborative skill and learn the value of sharing.Made from high-quality plastic pellets, this outdoor plastic playground set is durable and safe for children. Furthermore, SCG Foundation together with Rural Development Program and Nawaplastic Industries led by Sumphan Luveeraphan, Managing Director also established waste recycling bank in the school to encourage young people to practice waste segregation.Apart from incorporating the playground, SCG Chemicals’ employees also took part and engaged in the program by providing toys and educational tools for students.

RIL registered as pilot industrial estate to certify Eco-Excellence Level

Prachak Sotornsak (4th left), Managing Director of RIL 1996 Co., Ltd., in SCG Chemicals, received a certificate of participation as a pilot industrial estate to certify standard at Eco-Excellence level from Somchint Pilouk (3rd left), Deputy Governor of Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand. In the meantime, RIL Industrial Estate is in the process of assessment to certify Eco-Excellence level, which will be officially announced soon. In accordance with the business operation under the principal of Sustainable Development (SD), SCG Chemicals is committed to developing RIL Industrial Estate to be a prototype of Eco Industrial Estate. Prior to advancing towards a pilot industrial estate to certify Eco-Excellence level this year, RIL Industrial Estate has been certified as an Eco-Champion level with the highest score for three consecutive years by IEAT. Moreover, it strongly commits to upgrading to Eco-World Class level in the near future.

Cholanat Yanaranop (5th from left), Executive Vice President of SCG and Chairman of SCG Sustainable Development Committee, congratulated and presented a money reward to Swachh Toilet team on winning H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Sustainability Award granted for the top business plan on sustainable development in The mai Bangkok Business Challenge @ Sasin 2017 - a world-class business plan challenge competed entirely in English language. Comprising Master’s Degree students from S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, India, this year’s Sustainability Award winning team presented an innovative online application that provides a comprehensive list of clean toilets in India in order to facilitate users who are searching for hygienic toilets in close proximity. The team represented outstanding effort and thus received H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s trophy as well as a money reward. Sponsoring H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Sustainability Award is part of SCG’s commitment in driving innovation and sustainability in accordance with SCG’s strategy.
